Things To See at the Oxbow Public Market, Napa,California

Getting to know a place (really) for me means eating local and buying indigenous products. So, I always see to it that I visit a farmer's or a local market. In Napa, a place not to miss is the Oxbow Public Market. This market is an artistic collage of local herbs, spices, wines, spirits, cheeses, cold cuts, pastries, homemade breads, condiments, etc.  Truly an insightful experience attesting to the delightful food scenery  you can find in Napa.

Hudson Greens and Goods: Baskets,anyone?

Whole Spice: 'Got to buy a packet of Lavender Sugar and Paella Spice Mix here.

Ca' Momi Enoteca Pasticceria: Claim to fame: 100% organic traditional Italian pastries. This pastry shop is known for their signature Bignè, more commonly known as Italian cream puffs.  A  bignè could be fried or baked. Many prefer, though, the baked ones because of the taste and texture, not to mention, health considerations. Can you figure out the cream fillings written on the labels below? Google translate, please!
Special mention: the donut-like pastries below the bignes are called ciambellina (donuts in Italian). These are not your  regular donuts though. These are cookie-like in texture, ingredients include wine and are baked. They are more commonly known as wine cookies. Trust Napa to have these wine cookies locally available!
